Welcome
Dear geoscientists, dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure and an honor to invite you to attend the MCG – Mountain Climatology and Geomorphology International Conference, which will be held from 12 to 16 December in Andalo, Italy, in both in-person and online formats.
Researchers working on mountain environments, climatology, and geomorphology are warmly invited to present and discuss their latest original research. In response to the growing need for a dedicated international forum focused on high-altitude systems and mountain processes, MCG aims to bring together scientists from across the globe to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and address the pressing environmental challenges affecting mountain regions.
The conference will offer a multidisciplinary platform covering a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from mountain climate dynamics and ongoing climatic changes to cryospheric and periglacial processes, as well as geomorphological hazards such as landslides, debris flows, and rockfalls. Particular attention will also be devoted to the application of remote sensing and Earth observation techniques in mountainous terrain, hydrological processes and water resources in alpine environments, and landscape evolution together with soil development in high-relief areas.
MCG will feature plenary lectures delivered by leading international scientists, alongside a comprehensive scientific program designed to encourage discussion, innovation, and the exchange of ideas across disciplines. Special sessions will focus on emerging and cross-cutting topics, while a vibrant social program will provide opportunities for networking and collaboration. In addition, field excursions in the spectacular alpine setting of the Dolomites will allow participants to directly explore and experience mountain geomorphology and climate-related processes in the field.
Selected contributions will be considered for publication in conference proceedings and special issues in international journals, with the aim of promoting the dissemination of cutting-edge research and strengthening scientific cooperation within the global geoscience community. The conference also places strong emphasis on supporting early-career researchers, offering valuable opportunities to engage with experts, present unpublished findings, and build lasting international connections.
We look forward to welcoming you to Andalo for an inspiring and memorable scientific experience in the heart of the Alps.
Join us in advancing the understanding of mountain systems and their role in a changing climate.
